BE VERY CAREFUL WHAT YOU SIGN WITH THEM
You are signing a CONTRACT with them.
So why would I advise you to be VERY careful what you are signing with CPS?
CPS is supposed to try and find a way to help you safely parent your children first before they ever take them out of your home.
If they believe that you have a drug problem, they will have you take a drug test.
If they believe that you have an anger management problem, they will request that you take some anger management classes. These services can be for anything.
The problem is…..you would be signing a CONTRACT with CPS. If you do something that goes against that contract, they simply take the kids and petition the court to take jurisdiction and put them into foster care.
Then you have a full blown CPS court case that can take YEARS to get out of and get your children back.
You do not want to sign any ROI’s (Release Of Information Forms). These are supposed to be voluntary and will give CPS all of your mental and physical health information to be used against you later. If it shows that you have any kind of mental health issues, they will be used against you and said that you cannot function well enough to parent your children. They are just looking for things to nail you with.
FIRST make sure that they show you PROOF that CPS has determined that there is a safety threat in the home that needs monitored with a safety plan.
But,….in order to have an “in-home” safety plan, you MUST sign it. Make sure that it is not accusing you or others in the home of something that is NOT true. DO NOT SIGN IT UNLESS YOU AGREE WITH IT. You are supposed to be part of those who create the safety plan. If you sign it and something on it is not true, it can be used in court as if it is the truth.
